NC= No Change in Preece Power Poll Ranking

ND = No Difference between Preece Power Poll Ranking and Max Preps Ranking

Note: Max Preps ranks 11-man and 8-man programs separately while the Preece Power Poll does not. There are 106 teams that play 11-man football in Utah and 12 teams that play 8-man football.

Utah County Rankings: 1. Lone Peak #5, 2. Skyridge #6, 3. Orem #7, 4. American Fork #8, 5. Timpview #17, 6. Lehi #21, 7. Springville #25, 8. Pleasant Grove #28, 9. Westlake #30, 10. Spanish Fork #32, 11. Provo #34, 12. Salem Hills #35, 13. Timpanogos #56, 14. Payson #59, 15. Maple Mountain #60, 16. Mountain View #64, 17. Cedar Valley #74, 18. ALA #95, 19. UMACW #112.

Notes: 4A Ridgeline with its 19-game winning streak continues on top. The biggest changes toward the top of the Preece Power Poll had Mountain Ridge and Herriman sliding into the three and four spots right behind No. 2 Corner Canyon. Lone Peak (No.5) and Skyridge (No. 6) each slid down two spots taking some losses to out-of-state teams. Orem, despite a couple of losses, moves up to No. 7. The Tigers did play Mater Dei, California slightly better than American Fork but the Cavemen remained where they started the pre-season poll at No. 8. West moved up a spot to No. 9 and Davis slid down five spots to No. 10.

By the way, Davis had its starting quarterback Brodie Scheinberg actually leave the team and move back to California after the third game. Davis was 1-2 in his starts but has won their last two games with Paden Toula as the signal caller. Davis will host American Fork in a Top 10 clash this Friday. But the biggest top ten clash will have Lone Peak visiting Corner Canyon.

Biggest Movers Upward: Though they have played an independent schedule and are classified as 2A, it is hard to ignore the great season Layton Christian has put together thus far. By staying independent – and the rural 2A schools would certainly balk having them playing in the 2A tournament, much like their feelings for Wasatch Academy in basketball – the Eagles can play about anyone they want. Layton Christian, after next week’s game against 2A South Summit, have three games against Utah County schools. Pleasant Grove and Maple Mountain hosts Layton Christian in weeks seven and nine respectively and sandwiched between that, Payson heads north in Week 8. The Eagles surged up 42 spots to crack the top 20 at No. 19. Other significant moves were made by Delta (+37), North Sanpete (+30) led by former Bingham head coach Dave Peck, Grantsville (+28), Pine View (+28), Murray (+27) and Logan (+26). Spanish Fork led the county moving up 20 positions while its southern neighbor Payson improved 17 spots.

Biggest Movers Downward: East leads this department sliding down 48 spots and the Leopards have not scored a single point in their four games. But Brighton (-41) might qualify as the most disappointing team of the 2026 season thus far and perhaps Granger is also in the running as the Lancers slipped 35 spots. Olympus (-33), West Jordan (-31), Riverton (-28), Manti (-26) and Desert Hills (-25) all saw significant regression. For the county, Cedar Valley lost 14 spots while Lehi slid 12 positions.

Preece Power Poll (PPP) and Max Preps (MP) Divergence: Ridgeline holds the top spot in the PPP but is No. 6 in MP poll. The MP poll puts Mountain Ridge on top. Both agree that Corner Canyon is No. 2. There are other permutations in the top ten as Crimson Cliffs ranks clear at No. 15 in the PPP but No. 5 in MP. Another significant variation is with Orem who the PPP ranks at No. 7 while MP has them at No. 3. This despite the Tigers losing to Skyridge head-to-head who the MP ranks at No. 8 and the PPP has at No. 6.

The biggest divergence between the two polls is with Olympus who the PPP put at No. 49 while Max Preps has the Titans at No. 20. MP also sees 1A power Duchesne as the No. 46 in the state while the PPP has the Eagles ranked at No. 66. But on the other end of things, Box Elder ranks at No. 11 in the PPP but at No. 37 in MP. North Sanpete in the PPP ranks 20 spots higher than in the MP. Pine View is also ranked much higher in the PPP (No. 16 versus No. 34).

In regards to other Utah County teams, MP ranks both Maple Mountain and Cedar Valley 15 positions higher, while the MP has Westlake at No. 17 but the PPP has the Thunder ranked No. 30. Springville is also ten spots lower in the PPP vs. the MP poll. But Salem Hills is rated 18 positions better in the PPP than in the MP poll and the PPP sees Timpanogos and Mountain View 15 and 10 positions better respectively.

Starting at $4.32/week.
